Volunteers Wanted !

We are focusing our efforts on some new projects around the yard. Our current work schedule will be posted in our members group on a regular basis. Please stop by the yard to visit or help out. We generally work each Saturday from 8 am until 2 pm. Lunch is served for our workers by our executive railroad chef! The yard is located in the 1403 Jefferson Hwy (New Orleans) across the street from Ocshner Hospital.


 

Inventory

In addition to SP-745, LASTA maintains other railroad cars and equipment at the yard. Please visit our Assets and Inventory page for more information about the unique items.

Current Projects

Our current work schedule and detailed project status reports can be found on our LASTA Members Group. All LASTA members are invited to join and participate in the group.

Future Plans

  1. Repair yard equipment and machinery
  2. Search for a permanent home for 745
  3. Assist Southeast Louisiana Rail Chapter of the National Historic Society in moving four coaches on static display in Baton Rouge
  4. Restore Glenn Pond and Glacier coaches
